AS220 Print Shop

Open House and Orientation

First Tuesday of every month - 6-7 pm
Our monthly Open House is an opportunity for people to shake hands with the AS220 Community Print Shop, sign up for a class, see the facilities, or ask questions about membership. Come find the best process to fit your working habits / aesthetic or creative interest.
Each Open House also includes an Orientation which introduces people to the specifics of the AS220 Printshop. For example, we show people our unique lighting and exposure system, rag and clean up procedures, online sign up system, etc. Important: Open House / Orientation is not a substitute for a class on specific techniques.  Members need to have taken a class or demonstrated technical proficiency with a portfolio of work in order to have permission to print on a press or with a process.

Membership
Membership to all of the AS220 Cottage Industries, including the Print Shop, costs $40.00 annually. These dues help maintain all  of our shared equipment. AS220 Cottage Industry membership allows for trained members to make work at the Printshop, AS220 Lab, and the Paul Krot Darkroom and Photo.

Our membership contract is available online by clicking here (link). If you have a portfolio of prints, bring a completed contract to an Open House held the first Tuesday of each month from 6-7pm.
Labs & Darkroom
The AS220 Labs is a community electronics labs, and is based upon the idea of Folk Electronics and Digital Design and Fabrication supporting open hardware and software projects. We are a growing community of technically literate artists and makers of all ages whose goal is to provide affordable access to both computer-controlled machinery and technical education. Our lab offers open hours for machine access, technology classes, youth programs and a certification program in Digital Fabrication.
The current focus of the AS220 Darkroom is black and white film developing and printing. We have one group darkroom, serving up to four printers at a time and one solo darkroom; accommodating negatives from 35mm to 4x5" and prints as large as 20"x24". All chemistry and equipment use is included in the price of individual memberships. We are also currently developing a camera rental program that will allow members to sign out experimental and high-end cameras and other equipment.
