Participants will make a plastic plate and print cards of their own design on our Vandercook proof press. Come prepared with a film, and leave with a stack of your own letterpressed cards, beautifully embossed with your image. This class is designed for printers familiar with the letterpress. We will go through the process of exposing and creating a plate, inking the press and adjusting printing margins.

To purchase specialized cards we recommend Paperworks in Pawtucket, Michaels art store, or Papersource in Boston. Plain cards will be available at cost, Ink is provided.

The platemaking film: Unfortunately, regular acetate photocopies are not opaque enough; we recommend sending your image file to Steve at Faces Typography who does an excellant job of printing film negatives. e-mail: Output@facesimaging.com . Make sure to send him the positive, as he will reverse it, and make sure it is strictly black and white (bitmap or outline).
