I met you at the second concert of the Live/Whirled Music Series. This concert featured Fishel Bresle, Shelley Katsh and Bob Moses. It was an amazing performance. Since that time, I've wanted to contact you to find out if one of the bands I work with could participate in an upcoming concert. Vanessa told me the March 9th show will be the last of the season and the season resumes in November. I would like to add The Gillen Street Project to the bands considered for your next season. A description of our band is below: The Gillen Street Project is committed to convening once a week to enjoy improvisational music that some times shapes into tunes. We have little interest in pop formulas unless we feel like utilizing a pop formula . We believe music at its most fundamental level is some considered arrangement of sounds over time. We also realize that without an audience art is pointless. Fulfilling one's responsibility to an audience while being true to one's own creative impulse is at times a difficult challenge but one we have chosen to embrace. The Gillen Street Project is made up of Tony Teixeira (bass, voice), Susan Clausen (banjo, ukulele, canjo, spoons, found objects, voice), Bert Crenca (flute, flarinute, percussion, found objects, voice), and Nisha Purushotham (percussion, voice, piano). Thank you for considering us. For me getting together to jam with you all is valuable enough but the opportunity to document our work through recording is exciting. I'm often surprised, amazed, and intrigued when listening back to our sessions. Recording will also encourage us to craft what organically comes out of our jam sessions. I'm also excited by opportunities to perform out with this project. Already, we've performed in settings I wouldn't had a chance to and I've grown through the experience. On a final note, are we meeting tonight or waiting until next week?
