We've got some great stuff for you this week, sure to bring you
happiness and wonder, joy and disbelief, fulfillment and
confusion...and that's just three out of eight shows!

Local heavy bands play with a NYC heavy band on a heavy Friday night
of what the kids call sludge and doom music. Sounds scary, but you
shouldn't fight your dark side.

Happy moshing for a good cause! There's a mid-day benefit punk show
Saturday afternoon with local favorites, St.Jude, Fight the Tides,
The Spoils and possibly more! In light of recent events, proceeds go
to help Alex Svoboda. All your new friends are gonna be there!

Punk funk fun time all-girl dance band, Mika Miko, plays next hump
day along with local regulars, Made in Mexico and Triangle Forest.
Totally worth it.

As I say goodbye and leave you with the events, remember; as a cool
breeze wafts through the streets of Providence, don't get all mopey
about summer's end. You can find year-round comfort in the open
embrace of AS220. Just make sure you wear protection.

xoxo

8pm Sin Of Angels, Negative Reaction, Beneath Oblivion, Noosebomb,
Howl and Kintaan
Heavy, heavy Friday night, watch out - heavy. SIN OF ANGELS
(Providence, RI) was conceived of in early 2003, by friends Ray
McCaffrey and Josh Maher. They were soon joined by Todd Laskowski
(Warhorse) and quickly began writing. They wasted no time in
recording and self-releasing a two-song demo, "The Dark Sky
Sessions", which contained early versions of "At Journey's End" and
"Dark Sky Prophecy" (later re-recorded and released on the 2005 full-
length "From the Ashes"). Sin of Angels worked hard playing shows and
developing a fan base in the New England area. Many lineup changes
were had over the years, but what remained unchanged was their
unrelenting drive. . Combining elements of doom, sludge and death
metal, Sin of Angels has built a reputation around their pummeling
live shows. NEGATIVE REACTION (NY, NY): Negative Reaction give any
band in the sludge/doom scene a kick in the ass. One of the heaviest
bands around today, NR uses feedback as a hammer and the guitars
tuned to A as the stake. Don't be alarmed though, this band writes
songs with feeling and heart to match creativity and give the
listener one hell of a time. They can tear through a fast number as
well as a slow one, which will make you think you're listening to a
combination of Grief, Black Sabbath and Napalm Death.

9pm Barn Burning, Vivan Linden, Ben Pilgrim and The Divorced
VIVIAN LINDEN grew up in various one-room cabins in rural northern
California. She moved to Seattle in 1999. After spending several
years writing music alone, she began bringing together other local
musicians to help breathe life into her material. Vivian began
playing shows in the Seattle area and in 2004 she released the
Latecomers EP, a four song collection of original material. By 2005
she had attracted the attention of several local producers including
Beck Henderer-Pena. Recorded over the course of 2005 and early 2006,
Watch the Light Fade was carefully crafted by Beck, Charlie Smith,
Vivian and her bandmates. The album also features performances by
various respected local musicians such as Wayne Horvitz, Bill Herzog,
Jay Roulston and others. True to it's genesis, Watch the Light Fade
became a spacious and brooding homage to love, lust, lonesomeness and
loss. Sharing the stage will be Vivian's East-Coast label-mates, BARN
BURNING. "With their second full-length release Barn Burning create
soundscapes that are both stark and expansive through which singer
Anthony Loffredio drifts, a contemplative and angst-ridden Nomad.
Musically the sound is a blend of alt-country, folk and post-rock and
is truly unique. The album was recorded in a large, remote house in
the middle of winter and the music has seemingly absorbed it’s
desolate ambience and communicates it perfectly. The instrumentation
is minimalist but also has a widescreen feel that creates a vast
landscape, unsettling but still. Occasionally this serenity is
violated by a storm of crashing guitars and Loffredio’s brooding
vocal becomes an anguished wail, as during ‘The Final Days of Our
Better Days’." (Losing Today)

9pm Babies In Limbo, Rut and Iosoce
BABIES IN LIMBO from Providence RI and New Bedford MA. "There had to
be cosmic forces afoot when Joe Lemerise, Joey Whipp and Brian
Viveiros pooled their creative energies together to form Babies In
Limbo. Even though all three attended the same high school, they
would have never imagined they would one day form a band together.
Lemerise, (drummer), was originally a guitarist. He only picked up
the sticks after Viveiros, (bass), purchased a drum kit and they
agreed to play some covers along with Whipp on (vocals, guitars,
keyboards). From this loose partnership a baby was born. Self-
described as "Ob-rock," or objective-rock, Babies have sought to
create a sonic landscape culled from many various contemporary and
classical influences. The music is full of life and defies being
placed into a category or genre. Babies attribute this to their
organic creative process." IOSOCE, orginal rock from Barrington, RI.

8pm August Spy, Just Let It Die, The Victory Parade and California Smile
JUST LET IT DIE, left of center, wonderfully accidental, bedroom punk
indie 4-track folk death strums from Cranston RI, in the tradition of
R.Stevie Moore with Lou Barlow on guitar (battery in effects pedal
dying) and Freddy Mercury hammering out the painfully sweeping piano
lines. THE VICTORY PARADE also plays music, but they are not from New
York. Instead, they live in Cranston, Rhode Island, along with JUST
LET IT DIE. The rent is much cheaper there than in New York City.

9pm Triangle Forest, Mika Miko and Made In Mexico
OH HAI DERE... MIKA MIKO have an entry in Wikipedia, let's cut and
paste it, shall we? "Mika Miko is an underground youth punk/noise
band formed in 2003 in Los Angeles, California, USA. In 2004 they
gained local popularity for their frenetic live performances which
emulate being at a party and often take place at parties. Featuring
Victor Fandgore (Jennifer Clavin), Jet Blanca (Jenna Thornhill),
Michelle Suarez, Jessica Clavin, and Jon Erik Edrosa, the original
line up of the band made its first demo CD-R, its first 7" record,
and toured the West Coast extensively before replacing their original
drummer with Kate Hall and embarking on their first national tour in
the Summer of 2005. Also in 2005 they were featured on two
compilations released by Los Angeles-based record labels, produced
their first two self-released cassettes, and two members of the band
appeared on the Hawnay Troof EP Community. Their first full-length
album was co-released by Post Present Medium and Kill Rock Stars in
the Summer of 2006. A second pressing on vinyl was later released by
Sweden based label Deleted Art. In August of 2006 the band graced the
cover of Maximum Rocknroll which within contained an interview and
photoshoot by Vice Cooler. In July of 2006 they were featured in ANP
Quarterly. Members of the band appeared in the film 40 Bands/80
Minutes! released in 2006. The band was featured in the Static
section of Punk Planet's 76th issue (November/December 2006).They
often play at The Smell, an all-ages venue in Los Angeles, where they
are also volunteers." Providence bands MADE IN MEXICO and TRIANGLE
FOREST make music in a local style, also.
