Also: DJ C's Blentcast mix the fourth in Blentwells podcast series
enjoyed nearly 13,000 downloads in its first 2 weeks online. Now the mix
is available at his site, in a slightly modified form, as part of the "B"
series DJ mixes. Because he had some trouble narrowing down his selection
for the mix, it clocks in at nearly 120 mins, so it's been broken it up
into two parts. In true genre-blend style the mix is all over the map,
filled with freaky dancehall, re-rubbed hip-hop, toxic mashups and much,
much more. He also managed to sneak in a bunch of new and unreleased
nuggets from various friends around the globe. Check it out at:

Tonight, Monday, October 16, 2006 we bring you:
Tim O'Keefe (Providence, RI / Cozy Music)
-
Providence electronic composer, sampler, producer extraordinaire, Timothy
O'Keefe runs the Cozy Music label and is a long-time resident atist at the
AS220 artists collective. Tonight he'll be presenting a new live set of
beat-driven, middle-eastern influenced jammies he's been working on.
DJ C and DJ Flack will also be in the labs conducting riddim research.

Fosforo (Los Angeles, CA)
-
Former Toneburst collective member, Scuzzy (AKA Rafi Benjamin) lives out
in LA now and we miss him. So we're excited that he'll be swinging through
the Boston area on an east coast tour with his band Fosforo. You may be
familiar with their tune Mosquito which was remixed by DJ /rupture, and
released on his "Special Gunpowder" album. Fosforos debut full-length
album, released earlier this year on Raya Records, features Rafi
Benjamins powerful songwriting, backed by the deep reggaetronic and
punkadelic rhythms of drummer Cesar Ventura and bassist Edwin Moses. Sung
in English, Spanish, and Hebrew, Even The Sun bursts with an evocative
stream of words and images that conjures up Beenie Man channeling the
poetic spirits of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan. From the North African
ragga-rock of Amapola, with its harrowing portrayal of an obsessed love,
to the post-biblical dub meltdown of Lots Wife, Fosforo's debut effort
proves to have been well worth the wait. This is your opp
ortunity to check 'em out live in the intimate surrounds of the E-Room.
