Board Changes
Our board of directors had its annual election this month, and we now have a new Chairman of the Board. Lucie Searle has chosen to leave the Board after two years of faithful service, and Dennis DiBattista, who served as Board Chair from 1994-6, will be returning for another term.
David Henry and Michael Simon have joined the Board, and Jerry Heroux, Jay Coogan, David Newton and A.J. Crenca are stepping down.
The Cafe
The big news is that the Cafe is now open on Mondays, much to the delight of Tom Buckland and the Trinity Rep staff.
The Cafe staff has three new members. You ought to introduce yourself to them, but, in case you forget their names, Michaelle has black hair, Sarah's is red, and Heather's got blonde hair. Tasha has been promoted from Unofficial Assistant Manager to Official Assistant Manager.
The new menu sign is the work of Kim Kazan, and the new tuna salad is based on the Hudson Street Market's secret recipe.
The Stage
Kristen Hersh has been confirmed to perform at AS220 on October 30th. 125 tickets will go on sale October 7th. Congrats to Lizzie for seeing this booking through.
The Kristen Hersh show has been in the works for a few months now, but it just so happens that it fits in nicely with a strategy that's included in the Lila Wallace grant. One of our goals is to increase what we pay to artists who perform on our stage, and we cover this new expense by having a monthly rent party, where we book a big-name and/or national act who's likely to fill the house.
On the technical side, Joe Auger continues to explore ways to find the money to make much-needed repairs to the PA. The latest plan is to hold a series of benefit shows here during the first week of November.
Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest
Bert and Sheri are busy preparing for a press conference announcing the grant. The press conference will be held in our Cafe on Wednesday September 2nd, and the public is very invited. There will be punch and cookies and Mayor Cianci.
The Broom Closet
AS220's Computer Lab was completely made over by Jeremy Woodward. You have to see it to believe it.
