Workshops in the Curriculum
From AS220Labs
Intensive Workshops
The following workshops are multiple sessions, and typically have a fee and materials cost associated with them.
EA 101 Electronics for Artists: This is the first of a series of classes designed to teach the basics of electronics to those interested mostly in the practical with just a little bit of the theoretical. EA101 will introduce students to basic electronic components, how to design and prototype simple circuits, and where to go from there.
LAB 110 Introduction to the Laser Cutter: The basics of using the laser cutter safely, techniques for working with different materials, and the software tools for preparing work for the cutter. This is a hands-on workshop.
LAB 120 Introductory Arduino: This workshop will introduce you to the basics of the Arduino microcontroller system. The goal is to introduce you to its open source development platform and get you started with the creation of your own interactive object(s).
Make and Break Workshops
All of the Make and Break workshops take about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. We have 25 soldering stations that are completely portable. Contact shawn@as220.org to schedule a workshop at your school, library, or community center. Host organizations just need to provide power, chairs and tables. Workshop fees are negotiable.
