AS220 Galleries gears up for: summer surf fun, the joy of flux , the inevitability of death and the fleeting attempts made to capture a moment, a brief dew drop, a flash of lightning, and transform into art. With any luck you will find this month's exhibits to be: light hearted, philosophical, whimsical and perhaps, they may strike a deep resonant chord of your inner being.

The AS220 Main Gallery features the paintings of Janice Causey and photographer Marylou Butler. Janice Causey is a surfer, a teacher, a painter, a mother with a passion for color. Marylou Butler captures wonderful reflections that turn the world up side down all in lush colors. Kevin Cunnigham makes surfboards from innovative green materials. And their beautiful to behold: form, function and fun all in one. The AS220 Project Space present an installation by Serena JV Elston and Meredith Younger called Bury Me Deep. Not in the beach sand, in the Earth, Forever. Come and drink deep from this well. In the Reading Room Madolin Maxey presents 15 Fluxus books by 15 artists. Comedy, hi-jinks, tenderness and boob towers. The Youth Gallery presents the new work by Norlan Olivio. Noraln designs and makes t-shirts, takes photos, and makes silk-screen prints.

AudioWinds #1, an audio art installation by Rhode Island-based writer, storyteller, and radio host Marc Levitt, will be presented on the Moore Terrace at the second-floor entrance to RISD's Chace Center. The piece, which can be experienced between May 20th and July 18th, is a multi-channel orchestration of sounds that might have been heard at this location over the last few centuries, from before contact between local indigenous people and European settlers to the present time. The sounds have been taken from their historical context and used as 'notes' in this orchestration. This spot has, at various points, served as the site of a Narragansett Indian settlement; a homestead to settlers as they arrived from Europe; a place with ties to slave-based labor; a location for stables, factories, and rooming houses; and the center of Providence's commercial district.
