Tor Johnson Presents: Broadcaster, Grandfather and ROTA
Broadcaster as described by the Providence Phoenix: "Still pining for that Archers Of Loaf reunion? Bong rips and Built to Spill as part of a balanced breakfast? Still enjoy screaming along to vintage Modest Mouse and Joan of Arc? Look up "La Brea" or "Old Creep" from Broadcaster and tell us you're mot hooked."
Rota are a four piece from Newport consisting of two girls and two boys playing a form of indie/emo/punk that likens to a good mix of Jawbreaker-ish vocals, and a Rainer Maria style sound.

Colin L. Orchestra, CSC Funk Band, and Alec K. Redfearn and the Eyesores
Colin L. Orchestra : In the tradition of long strange trips across wide open spaces, the Colin L. Orchestra arrived at the offices of Northern-Spy Records via Colin Langenus previous project, USAISAMONSTER. Hes exchanged his previous duo for a full-scale rock orchestra of his bestest buds on multiple guitars, drums, violins, keyboards. Their first project, Infinite Ease/Good God, is full-scale indeed, available as a double-CD or a deluxe fully re-mastered for vinyl version of Infinite Ease with a digital download of Good God. Though three years in the making, they flow as smoothly as an inner tube on a lazy stream on a summers afternoon. Three years setting schemes and arranging sleeping dreams have culminated in two lush, flowing albums full of anthems and wee small moments. From the supple bass line that opens, "You Need Sleep," to crunches of guitar shred melting into velvet strings on their way to a country ditty that would do Graham Parsons proud. Here is a double-pleasure that re-envisions the jam band and, at the same time, indie rock, meshing together minimalistic repetitive jams, bright melodies, and loose, easy-going vocals all in the sole service of aiding your bliss. Musically speaking, though, hes undergone a drastic transformation over the last year and a half. Kicking the noise rock to the curb, Langenus now oversees two groups: the CSC Funk Band, a large and unruly ensemble churning out eccentric Afrobeat for freakers and weirdos, and the Colin L. Orchestra, another big band that produces a cloudy blend of classic rock, country folk, and Rhys Chatham-inspired minimalism.- Justin Farrar, The Village Voice
CSC Funk Band: A 9-piece instrumental funk / dance / party band with full horn section, funky drummer, percussionist, bass, guitar and keys... Minimalist arrangements, raw presentation, heavy psyche influence, and soaring Hendrix-esque guitar solos. Releasing the debut CD/LP, "Things are Getting Too Casual" this August on seminal Hip-Hop label Fat Beats, after releasing a series of 7" vinyl on Brooklyn's Electric Cowbell
Alec K. Redfearn and the Eyesores: "...constructed from a diverse and unfashionable set of instruments, Alec K. Redfearn and the Eyesores are as bizarre as they appealing. This is wonderful stuff -- brave and experimental, yet warmly human. Make room on your folk revival shelf for something that may be influenced by folk, but is in no way a revival." - Splended

Tinsel Teeth, Fuck Ton, Dubknowdub, and GDFX
Tinsel Teeth will fuck your ears on the first date.
Greg Fox is an amazing drummer, one who showcases an otherworldly serenity, even when destroying his kit. Outside of Liturgy, he's a NYC noise/art-rock staple who's made sounds with Amen Dunes, Teeth Mountain, Guardian Alien, Family Of Love, the Boredoms Boadrum, and the Dan Deacon Ensemble. My favorite... Fox-related music comes from his one-man GDFX project. It seems like the most personal and, I think, offers the best sense of Greg as a person. Take a listen to "LAOQI TULA," a collage of tracks 10 and 11 from his I Ching/Taoist/video game-inspired debut LP, One Thing. The combo helps explain the albums title while offering a taste of the smashed-to-bits dance trip."
DUBKNOWDUB is an interplanetary improv noise dub duo who sample the howling sounds of the city and filter them through decaying electronics, scraping away the fuzzy din to find beats deep within the trash bin. The vehicle is a metal shopping cart as they endlessly roam the Earth looking for sounds to dub. DKD have performed on sidewalks, at dead ends, comic shops, art galleries such as Cinders and Ramiken Crucible in NY, at museums such as PS1, at St. Marks Church, on a boat, and at various birthday parties, weddings and Bar Mitzvahs.
Fuck Ton are a five piece band from NYC. Members of Grooms, Sisters, French Miami, and other bands. Members live and work at Death By Audio.

Last Good Tooth, Driftwood, Kath Bloom, and more TBA
Last Good Tooth is folk music. Inspired by relatives of the mountains of NC and the old Appalachian music form the blue ridge area; mixed with some love and hate of NYC.
Hailing from the post industrial town of Binghamton, NY, Driftwood is one of the brightest new acts to come out of the Upstate music scene. Formed in 2006 by what was first a simple collaboration between two friends bent on traveling the country playing folk music, they have turned into one of the hardest working bands in the business, sometime squeezing 2-3 shows into a single day! In June of 2009, Driftwood released its first full length recording, a 10 song, self produced LP called "Rally Day". 2010 marked the busiest year so far for Driftwood as they embarked on their first national tour, taking them all the way to San Francisco and back. They also managed to squeeze in many Summer festivals in Upstate, NY, including the prestigious Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance. Finally, Driftwood has just recorded their second CD at 3-egg Studios in Brooklyn, NY and are anticipating an early Summer Release. With over 700 total shows at clubs, colleges, festivals and countless street performances they have gained a dedicated fan base throughout New York and New England.
Kath is some kind of legend. She comes from a special place where country, blues and folk are made beautifully translucent and emotive. She has a special gift - her almost supernaturally beautiful, wavering soprano is one that has to be heard, with a clear transparent moonlight quality that silences a room. Her songs will burn a hole straight to your soul.
