R.K. Projects, in collaboration with Neal Walsh from the AS220 Project Space, is proud to present Ebb & Flow, a large-scale, site-specific, pop-up exhibition located at the Butcher Block Mill (formerly known as the Eastern Butcher Block).

R.K. Projects has invited 10 local artists to utilize 20,000 sq. ft. of the partially renovated Butcher Block Mill for an exhibition that will mark the transformation of the historic building, while offering a sneak preview of it's current state of development. There will be site-specific installations by Eamon Brown, Lauren Fisher, Lyn Goeringer, Lynne Harlow, and Megan and Murray McMillan; video work by Humanbeast, Mike Stoltz, and Matt Underwood; paintings by Bradley Fesmire and Buck Hastings.

The Butcher Block Mill from its inception as the Joseph Banigan Rubber Co. (1896 to 1910), through its acquisition and expansion as a vital regional plant of the United States Rubber Co. (1910-1975), to its current use as owned or leased space for a wide array of industrial and commercial uses, is highly representative of a pattern of industrial rise, decline, and re-use seen throughout New England as large-scale manufacturers shut down or moved operations out of state.

The developer of the building, Rachel Rafaelian, and PCIS hope that the Butcher Block Mill project will create jobs through the historic renovation of the site, and in its commercial end use to provide accessible space for small start-up businesses. The site will create a bookend to The Steel Yard & Milhaus with Monohasset Mill in the Center. It is their belief that the addition of a project of this size will create the necessary critical mass in our area to sustain a vibrant "Arts District" within the City of Providence.

Please join artists, preservationists, and city officials in previewing the transformation of the former Eastern Butcher Block Mill in Providence's Valley District (25 Eagle St.) at 5:30pm on Thursday, March 24th.
