Alec K Redfearn and the Eyesores, The Rex Complex, and Railbird
"...constructed from a diverse and unfashionable set of instruments, Alec K. Redfearn and the Eyesores are as bizarre as they appealing. This is wonderful stuff - brave and experimental, yet warmly human. Make room on your folk revival shelf for something that may be influenced by folk, but is in no way a revival." - Splended
The Rex Complex includes joyous screaming, rock guitar, distorted accordion, the odd crashing metal bucket or beer keg, and their penchant for creative lyrical content-- could draw them comparisons to Dirty Projectors, Tom Waits, Frank Zappa or the score to a lost-Tarantino soundtrack. All the while, The Rex Complex is pushing ahead with its own futuristic twists. Front-Man/Accordionist Rex Hussmann and drummer Jeremy Gustin founded the group in 2006 when Rex began experimenting with a balafone, banjo, up- right bass, and drums. As Rex puts it, This band was created to let us test the boundaries and play whatever we want. We can experiment with the sounds of Americana to hip hop to punk to freak-fuck-all. With Gustins influence, the bands experimental Americana like quality began to shift to that of a maniacal chameleon that rejected Aphex Twin, Mr. Bungle, The Police, or even Cab Calloway and The Clash. Their shows became progressively harder and electrifed, with Rex rolling and shouting shirtless on the ground in a tangle of wires.
Railbird : "You'll want to hear the latest in indie genre-bending. Their seamless blend of psychedelic rock n roll and sharp, textured, cerebral indie pop makes an evening with Railbird seem like Soft Machine collided in slow motion with the Yeah Yeah Yeah's secret tracks and commanded you to dance." - Short and Sweet NYC

Cactus Attack, Lac La Belle, and The Denver Boot
Cactus Attack is passionate indie folk music.
Lac La Belle is an acoustic group that juxtaposes the early decades of recorded rural American music with decaying Rustbelt aesthetic. A tradition is re-imagined, or maybe just resumed, in the future-rustic swirl of accordian, mandolin, banjo, ukelele, and resonator guitar. The instrumentation echoes another era but is employed for a 'music of now'.
The Denver Boot is fronted by singer, songwriter, & guitarist William Moretti, preforming original Americana roots music. With upright bass player - Johnny 'Custom' Viveiros, pianist & accordion player - Bill Canton. On occasion they are joined by lap steel player - Mike Samos and backing vocalist Maggie Frament both from the band 'The Silks'. With lyrics that have depth and music that can make you move, this dirty country- indie- folk group, ain't your uncles country band.
