AS220 Mission
We, the citizens of Rhode Island, associate ourselves for the purpose of providing a local forum and home for the arts, through the maintenance of residential and work studios, galleries, performance and educational spaces. Exhibitions and performances in the forum will be unjuried, uncensored and open to the general public. Our facilities and services are made available to all artists who need a place to exhibit, perform, or create their original artwork, especially those who cannot obtain space to exhibit or perform from traditional sources because of financial or other limitations.

Hot Studio for a Cool Artist

Studio 305, not famous for disco parties, but nice nonetheless, will be available to one lucky artist! The available efficiency apartment is 516 sq ft and costs only $582 per month; this is affordable housing so your income cannot exceed $25,600 to qualify.

Heat, hot water and AC are all included, but you must pay your own, less debilitating, electric bills. The potentially bad news: we do not provide parking, no pets are allowed, and the building is smoke free. Smokers must trek all the way downstairs! Each resident must contribute 5 volunteer hours per month to AS220 in a way of their choosing. Applicants must submit a portfolio of their artwork, not for judgment but to prove you are a working artist and you must intend to continue making art.

Want to apply? Bring some representation of your work you can leave behind and the official rental application to Susan at the AS220 main office at 95 Mathewson Street by May 21, 2009.

Applications are available at: http://www.as220.org/about/AS220_Application.pdf
