Ray Min was one of our students in AS200's summer jobs program. Ray helped us produce professional commercial photographs for the Institute for the Study and Practice of Non Violence and also worked on a personal portfolio of boxers working out at the Davey Lopes Rec Center. His photos and others will be on display when Photographic Memory has our October show at Providence City Hall. Stay tuned as the opening date is yet to be announced.
When we started photographing at Point Judith for the September AS220 Darkroom Open House the sun was setting. When we finished it was dark. It only seemed fitting to show this spooky photo as we were packing up to talk about the spookiest month on the Darkroom Calendar. For the month of October we have our Fall offerings of AS220 Darkroom Classes. We also have a fantastic opening of the Photographic Memory youth program's photography at Providence City Hall. We also have a Darkroom open house that will make scientific history. For the first time ever, we have isolated a photographic process by which invisible ghosts in the room can be photographed, with YOU! Please join the AS220 Darkroom crew as we take the 100yr old Century Camera on a road trip to the Point Judith Lighthouse next to the fishing village of Galilee. Once there we will take portraits using Narragansett bay as our back drop as we say good bye to summer. We will be leaving Providence at 6pm. The weather is supposed to be great too!
Say farewell to summer in style in a special on-location photo shoot with the famous Centruy Camera! This Monday join the darkroom in a pilgrimage to Galilee for some seriously old school photography. After a successful appearance at Foo Fest, we're taking this show on the road for a photo shoot like no other.
The Eastman Kodak Century Camera, shown in an early drawing above, was graciously donated to the Paul Krot Community Drakroom, and through the work of darkroom members and photographer Paul Clancy, is seeing the light of day for the first time in, well, a century. Restoring this camera to working order has been a labor of love here at AS220, and now we want to share it with you in the Indian Summer dusk over Point Judith, the picturesque backdrop for our shoot. We're looking for all measure of photo folks to join us on this excursion and be a part of the Century Camera's new golden age!
