Open House Artist Talk & Presentation with Photographer Peter Goldberg

Monday, April 6th, 2009 7pm FREE

115 Empire Street 2nd Floor

AS220 Darkrooms will once again host a monthly Open House this Monday, April 6th. This month artist Peter Goldberg will present his Black and White photographs documenting the CSO Tunnel construction 300 feet below Providence. This event is free and open to everyone! The talk begins at 7pm on the 2nd floor of AS220's Empire St building in Broad Street Studio's, cozy (read couches not cramped) Youth Resource Center.

In September of 2004, Rhode Island Monthly Magazine gave Peter Goldberg an assignment to photograph the Narragansett Bay Commission Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Tunnel project for an article. Several weeks later Peter found himself three hundred feet below Providence in this fascinating hidden underworld. In collaboration with the Bay Commission, Peter returned four times over the next three years to document the tunnel's progress. The exhibit of these works, "Providence Underground" at the Gail Cahalan Gallery, coincided with the official opening ceremony of CSO tunnel on November 13.

Peter has been a Providence-based freelance photographer since graduating from Rhode Island School of Design in 1988. He is known for his non-obtrusive shooting style and for his ability to tell stories and capture people in a comfortable and natural way. Peter specializes in editorial, assignment and public relations photography. In addition, Peter has a stock library of over 1,500 Rhode Island, Providence and travel related images. His clients include Fleet Bank, Rhode Island Monthly Magazine, Providence Phoenix, Brown University, Bryant University, RISD and The City of Providence, to name just a few from his long list.

Those of you who attended last month's open house where Denny Moers demonstrated his wet chemistry Voo-Doo in front of your very eyes, thank you and we hope to see you, as well as some new faces next Monday!
