Students of this workshop will:

  • learn the concept of 3D printing and rapid 3D prototyping.
  • learn the software and hardware involved.
  • learn how to properly prep files for the machine.
  • learn basic machine operations and functionality.
  • be trained and certified to use the machine independently as a member of AS220 Industries.

Upcoming Class Info and Teacher Bios:

April 26 : Modern Dance with Ali Kenner Brodsky
This modern class begins with a floor warm-up based on the Laban and Release Technique principles. We then move to standing on our feet and hands which leads us to a final combination. Emphasis will be placed on proper body mechanics, musicality, use of breath to initiate movement and spatial awareness. I ask you to come with an open mind and to explore movement in new ways.  I urge you to seek your individuality as a mover and thinker.

May 10: Modern Dance with Rachel Boggia
Drawing from many influences in the postmodern field, we will dance in the space between improvisation and detailed sequences, gross motor and detailed coordination, flying and falling, soloing and partnership.

May 24: Modern Dance with Kristen Bell
This technique class investigates how anatomy and movement mechanics interface with the qualitative aspects of dance performance.  Class begins with a series of simple movement exercises to establish efficient movement patterns, which will underpin alignment and mobility as class progresses to larger, more complex combinations. Class culminates with lively phrase work–ranging from traveling combinations to floor work to jumps – that we will use as the basis for exploring musicality and creativity. I aim to create a positive environment where dancers feel at home challenging themselves as artists, all while getting sweaty and having a great time!

Unstoppable Death Machines, Austerity Program, Meek Is Murder and tba @ AS220
Apr 27 @ 9:00 pm – 1:00 am

The performance-based duo is based out of Brooklyn, NY and come to us in the midst of a cross-country tour. Past performances have included immersive experimental environments complete with murals, sculptures, and interactive light, video and sound installations. These performances examine the connection between the visual and the musical and give birth to a “technicolor digital acid trip…what robots see when they drop acid.” (VICE) Unstoppable Death Machines has produced these ultra-stimulating, multi-sensory experiences at South by Southwest, on VICE, MTV and innumerable DIY venues across America and will do so at AS220 on April 27th at 9:00pm.
