Somethings Gotta Give

Biography:

Coming from a state where the hip-hop scene is more recycled than Aquafina bottles besides a select few, there aren't many talented Emcees for anybody to look up to. Thus, 17 year old, Inkwell is here. Born in Boston then raised in Atlanta for a while, Ink grew up on Outkast, Old School, and Soul music. When his father, a known trumpet player in his area, passed away at a young age he moved to Providence and decided to pick up where his father left off in music, recording with his tape recorder. As he got older he got into acting which would later help his stage presence. At 15 he was fortunate to get his first taste of recording in a studio and hasn't left since. He doesn't really have a defined style which is apparent when you hear his music. "I just want to make sure I'm giving the real message. I don't wanna be another disposable rapper" (Providence Phoenix, 2008). Presently, Ink is now the host of the only Hip-Hop Open Mic Night at AS220 (Every 2nd Thursday of the month) To date, he has performed at local venues including The Living Room, AS220, The Black Rep, and many more. He has also been featured in The Projo, Rhode Island Monthly, and The Providence Phoenix. His skills don't stop at emceeing either as he is very experienced in production and engineering. His talents on the soundboard launched him a staff job at AS220's Broad Street Studio as an in-house engineer for local artists.
