Winter 2010
-I like to make art because I feel that it is a way for me to express myself and my emotions. It is a way to familiarize myself with the unknown and it is a way for me to show people what I see and how I feel about it. I started realizing that I liked art when I was younger. I loved drawing pictures of random objects that were interesting to me. I was introduced to the idea of working with photography when I was in the 8th grade and my father bought a brand new camera. My first object of inspiration was my dog Jaden. I photographed him whenever I had the time to and whenever I was allowed to use the camera. I did this just to have memories of my dog but then later realized that I had a hidden talent. Now I see myself working with photography almost every single day of my life. I try and find time in each and every day to photograph something. What I see in my artwork is something that intrigued me or created an emotion in me. Most of the time my photos are of what I am familiar with like my family, my friends, and my community. I feel that I prefer to photograph what I am familiar with because I can catch what I appreciate about the subject and portray it in the right way. Even though I photograph what is familiar to me there is a large range as to what can inspire me to create something. The placing of an object or the expression on a person’s face or even the way someone is moving can inspire me. My goal as an artist is to become familiar with different techniques and mediums and become well rounded in any type of art. Whether it be drawing, painting, or photography. I also would like to someday see myself selling artwork or maybe even working for a well known company.
