BROAD STREET STUDIO CLASS SIGN UP THIS THURSDAY!
Come by AS220's youth program this Thursday at 4:30 when we will be having class sign ups for our summer workshops! This time we are offering 26 different classes including dance, hip hop, creative writing, photography, print making, and much much more. She is a rapper She is a poet She is a sister She is a daughter She is a cousin She is a neice She is Cinderella, Nella, Shaynizzl, Nizzl She is the one you'll look forward to seeing on TV becoming a big time lawyer on her way to being the first African American (young) Female President. So when you see her as the famous past lawyer- president just remember they used to think that she would never make it and destroy the life that was given to her. She makes music, writes poetry, not to corrupt the urban community but to influence them to follow their dreams and never give up. ~She is me and its time that i show you who I am. I am currently connected with AS220/Broad Street Studio. Ive been here for about 2 weeks and I've already performed at the AS220 Showcase and at the Elementary Showcase. My poem is on the BSS Mixtape and I'm looking forward to working on bigger projects.
BROAD STREET STUDIO BENIFIT TONIGHT!
Tonight at AS220, Broad Street Studio will be holding a performance program benefit concert starting at 8pm. Headliners include Mary Bee, Prayers for Atheists, WHO DEM??, and Chachi. Also, there will be performances by some of Broad Street Studio's own Gutterfly, Inwell, Rip, and K.I.T.
Tickets are only $7. While there pick up a copy of the new BSS mix tape with songs recorded in the Delgado Studio.
BROAD STREET YOUTH WINS THE UNITED WAY'S "LIVE UNITED" POSTER CONTEST
Big Ups to John Bhogal for winning the United Way of Rhode Island's "Live United" poster contest. The Broad Street Studio member competed with other young people from around the state to depict what it is to live united in Rhode Island. John was picked for one of five top awards. Take a look at some of the other work in his portfolio.
CHECK OUR NEW PREPRODUCTION LAB!
Mayor David Cicilline was on hand with the largest pair of scissor in the City of Providence to celebrate the opening of Broad Street Studio's new preproduction computer lab. The lab was given to us by the good folks at GTECH through the GTECH After School Advantage program. Each computer comes completely stocked with all the latest programs to allow our youth to create their original beats, record their music, come out with some slamming graphic design, work on their digital photography, and also create a solid artistic portfolio.
Big ups to Robert Vincent, Senior Vice President at GTECH for emceeing the ribbon cutting. Also special thanks to Mayor David Cicilline, City Council member Cliff Wood, Superintendent of Providence Public Schools Thomas Brady, and all the hard working people at GTECH who made this happen. Thanks.

HIP HOP Movie Based on a true story. This movie is about the beginning of Hip Hop and how it really started. It takes place during the 1970's and 80's. It follows the story of many pioneer rappers and DJ including Afrika Bambaata, Grandmaster Flash, and KRS-1. It's a work in progress, the screenplay will be done by the end of the month.
* Through The Dark Night *
I sit on the bench with my head held low.
I only think of the pain and hurt that i endure.
Shadows swim around me.
They protect me from people outside.
I feel cold and alone.
The warmth that once rapped around me has now been sucked into the shadows.
Cold swims through my blood.
People walk by me and stare wondering what or who i am.
But i do not look up.
I only stare down at the ground and droplets fall from my eyes.
Then he walks up to me and bends down and stares me in my eyes.
"The pain u feel is the pain of true feelings that have been sucked down into ashes.
U wake everyday hoping the one u loved never existed so that u could be spared the pain.
But one day u will awake and find that love does not come from words. it comes form all around us, you still have deep love cause that is how u feel. Don't let it wash away cause u are in pain. Love the one u lost."
He gets up and walks away leaving me by myself.....
*Crying in the Dark. *
Tears fall from her eyes.
She can only think about him and nothing more.
She sits in the a dark cell with the moon shining in lightly.
She can only think of him and the love she had for him.
But he walks through the wall in a black treanch coat.
He walks past her very slowly and turns his head towards her.
He places his hand on her chin and lifts her head to look into her eyes.
She can only pray that he is there to get her out of this cell she lives in.
But he only stares and shakes his head slighlty.
His stare gives her shivers.
She starts to feel cold and alone.
But he bends down to face her in her eyes.
"Darkness falls in the night. Everything will be alright. U will look in the distance and see the sight of him.
But u will never know who he is.
He will show u signs that he loves u.
But u will take a knife and stab him.
Fear flows in your blood cause u have been hurt.
But his feelings are the sun in the eastern skies, The arms that wrap around u at night, The love you share in the midnight.
But the year will come where u will call his name and he will not hear uuuuuuuu,"
The man stands straight and looks around.
He goes over to a brick in the floor and pulls it up under the brick is a sliver knife with a heart on it, vine shapes wrapped around it.
"When the time is right," He takes her hands and places them on the knife and places it to his heart. "U do what is right. What needs to be done."
She cries even more. "I don't want to, please don't make me."
He giggles and then laughs in her face.
"DO IT," He screams.
She shakes her head no.
"I am asking for a favor," He says smiling, "U can do it. and i want u to do it."
She crys and cry.
The man takes the knife and smiles again.
"U failed...."
He said walking towards the wall, but before he went through he turned and looked at her.
"The sun rises in the east, then falls in the west. U will find me on the dark side of the moon."
Then he goes through....

I can not stand not being around you!!! I can not stand how much i love you!!! You are the reason for my being!!! You are the reason I keep standing!!! This is not a lie girl when you look into my eyes!!! I see another side!!! The part that I love!!! The part that keeps us going baby and dose not let us fall apart!!! You are my energy!!! My lifesaver!!! When I am alone baby you come to my mind!!! Cause thinking of you is like you being near me. I see really cleary!!! That sometimes I am alone!!! But girl when I am with you I feel I am at home!!! You keep all the demeons out of my dreams!!! Cause your beautiful self keeps overriding them!!! I don't ever want to know what it be like with out in my life!!! Cause ever singal sec babe is the best!!! Baby girl that is no lie!!! If it was then you can think what ever you want I don't care. But you must understand. That I love you. No matter what girl. You can dis me. You can reject me babe but in the end u will see. Savoeuth is working on publishing a book of stories and poems on the topic of saying goodbye. It's meant to appeal to many people but specifically towards high school kids who are leaving school to go out on the real world. It's writing a book of memories and on how in the end you're just left to say goodbye. The book will be completed in early June. Read some of the completed works...
