Take a listen to all three original compositions .
Inkwell on 32 Twos: This is one of the first beats I ever made using the Reason program. It was a very simple process that consisted of chopping one-measure samples of a George Benson song and laying it over some drums. The disarrayed drums in the beginning represent the process of shuffling through drums while making a beat, as the pattern gradually starts coming together.
Here are two more for you ears!
Inkwell on Underdog: The "Underdog" beat is one of my personal favorites mostly because it doesn't sound like a typical Hip-Hop beat, besides the 808's. I chopped up vocal samples from the Underdog theme song and used bass instruments and synths to put it all together. I also constructed all of the drums myself.
Inkwell on Woo Sah: Ever since I first heard this sample on Sesame Street, the "Pinball Number Count" has always been something I wanted to sample. When I first started making it, it sounded like crap and I couldn't line up the sample with the drums and the added bass but once I got the hang of it, everything else fell into place. I love this beat because it gives the feeling that the intended artist tends to have a little fun on the song in the concept.
