SHOP ORIENTATION / MEMBERSHIP - FREE!
First Monday of each month - 6pm
There will be an orientation for each of the three types of printing. To include basic introduction to the specifics of the AS220 shop, for example, our lighting and exposure system, rag and clean up procedures, sign up for shop time, ect. This is not an introduction to technique and printmakers need to have taken a class or shown proficiency through a portfolio of work to be viewed only on the merits of technical skill. Come see our facilities and what we have to offer. You cannot use the shop until you have attended the orientation in the method you chose to print in.

PAYMENT AND COST
You can visit the AS220 Online Shop to browse classes, reserve a spot in a class online, and make payment for that class using PayPal or credit card. Classes cost $25 per 4-hour block (a 3-block class would cost $75) and a $10 general shop materials fee is required for every class (some classes also require outside supplies - these are not included in cost of class or general shop material fee, nor are they provided.). To cancel you must email morgan@as220.org one week in advance, or risk losing your payment.

CANCELLATION OF CLASSES
If minimum number is not met in class enrollment, the teacher may opt to cancel class. If this is the case, we will give a full refund class payment and first choice to enroll in future classes. We will attempt to give as much notice as possible.

OPEN HOUSE!!!! - MONDAY APRIL 7th, 6pm - FREE
Any and all interested in learning a bit about the shop and how it works, come to the FREE shop open house. We'll walk you through our silkscreen, letterpress and intaglio facilities! If you miss it this month, don't worry! There's an open house the first Monday of every month, at 6pm. Bring your work to show you can already print and get signed off to use the shop, or come and find out what sort of neat stuff the shop has to offer!!! No need to sign up, just show up!!

INTRO TO SILKSCREEN A - THURSDAY APRIL 3rd, 5-9pm - $35
This course provides a very quick and basic introduction to silkscreen. Participants will learn the basics of the photo-emulsion process, in addition to ink mixing, how to troubleshoot the process, registration and printing methods. Students will be provided with a small supply list when they sign up for the course. Students need not take ALL 3 silkscreen courses to be signed off to use the shop, one course (A, B, or C). INTRO TO INTAGLIO - FRIDAY APRIL 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th, 5-9pm - $110
In the Introduction to Intaglio class basic mark making skills as well as the techniques and processes of an etching press will be taught. Participants will create non-toxic etching projects on copper plates to help develop a clear understanding of traditional intaglio methods. Stage biting and resistance techniques will be discussed to provide an insight to good working habits. We will also cover ink mixing and application, plate preparation and wiping, as well as paper tearing and registration. Student's particular interests will determine the direction of the demonstrations, and there should be time for each participant to complete at least two individual projects. This clas will run over four meetings, participants must attend all four meetings to be signed off to print in the shop. Sign up now!

LETTERPRESS - SATURDAY APRIL 12th, 19th, 26th, 1-5pm - $85
This course provides a quick, basic introduction to letterpress. Participants learn to ink the press, adjust pressure, adjust roller height, register and feed a sheet of paper, make an impression and then clean the press. Creating and using plastic plates in combination with metal movable type to create your own vision in letterpressed embossment. Participants must take ALL THREE letterpress classes in order to be certified to use the letterpress during print time. The total cost of taking all 3 classes is $85. Class is Full.

T-SHIRT SILKSCREEN A - SUNDAY APRIL 13th, 1-5pm - $35
Student will learn the very basics of screen-printing 1-color images on t-shirts, using the photo-emulsion process. They will also discover the best methods for keeping t-shirts flat, using the proper ink for fabric, as well as how to properly set the ink into the shirt using the hot press or other at household methods. By the end of the class, students will have produced a wearable, 1-color t shirt. Students may take either class A or B, they are not required to take both. Sign up now!

SOLAR PRINTING WITH SUZANNE LEWIS - SATURDAY APRIL 19th, 10am-1pm - $35
The workshop will introduce participants to the process of solar relief printmaking. In this process a transparency is placed over a special photo emulsion plate. The sun then etches the plate for you. The result is a relief plate which when printed resembles a woodblock print yet without the laborious task of carving in wood or linoleum. Participants are asked to bring a drawing or photograph which can be translated into a bold black and white graphic image. Sign up now!

This course will cover a number of different types of water based monoprinting techniques, such as trace monotype, additive/reductive monotype, watercolor transfer, Xerox transfer and multi-plate registration. This combination of mediums will intrigue both the printmaker who's looking to loosen up, and the painter who's looking to broaden their horizons.

POST HOLIDAY CRAFT PARTY PARTY REDUX - SATURDAY JAN.26th, 5pm-9pm $5 donation
Join us for a crafty post holiday workshop!!! Learn simple silkscreen and linoleum techniques if you want and make some holiday presents and cards using pom-poms and glitter and pipe cleaners. BYOB and BYOS (bring your own supplies!). We will provide AWESOME food and drink and MAYBE STEAM SOME CIDER AND GET SOME COFFEE FROM DUNKIES!!! ALSO we have an IPOD!!! ALL AGES!!! and it ENDS AT NINE so you can enjoy your regular scheduled Saturday night!

This course provides a quick, basic introduction to letterpress. INTRO TO WOOD BLOCK/RELIEF PRINTING
WEDNESDAY DEC.5th, 5pm-9pm - $25
Students will learn basic carving techniques with gouges and other tools. Within the class, students will have the opportunity to work on single color linoleum or wood block. Printing using hand techniques in addition to using the etching press and experimenting with papers will all be covered by the instructor.

GIFT WRAP: REPEATING PATTERNS I

GIFT WRAP: REPEATING PATTERNS II

GIFT WRAP: REPEATING PATTERNS III

Students will learn to design repeating patterns for fabric, wrapping paper, wall paper, etc using silkscreen techniques over the course of three classes. This class is accessible to both advanced and beginning students. This is ONE class, three separate sessions. The total cost of the class is $75

INTRODUCTION TO SILKSCREEN - 4 hours - $25
Class A - TUESDAY NOV.13th, 5pm-9pm
Class B - SUNDAY NOV.18th, 1pm-5pm
maximum 5 students per class
This course provides the a very basic introduction to the photo-emulsion process of silkscreen. Participants will learn how to transfer an image of their appropriation or making onto a screen by exposing photo-emulsion. They will also learn how to degrease, coat, ink, print with and clean the screen.
Students need only take ONE class to be signed off to silkscreen in the shop, NOT both.

INTRODUCTION TO OIL BASED WOODBLOCK AND LINOLEUM - 4 hours - $25
SUNDAY NOV.11th, 1pm-5pm
maximum 5 students per class
Students will learn basic carving techniques with gouges, as well as introduction to the use of a dremel as a relief-carving tool. Within the class, students will have the opportunity to work on single color linoleum or wood block. Printing using hand techniques in addition to using the etching press and experimenting with papers will all be covered.

INTRODUCTION TO LETTERPRESS - 12 hours - $75
