Beginning early December, the Taqueria Pacifica will magically transform itself into a permanent fixture as the new AS220 cafe. Offering West Coast-stylin' Mexican food, the Taqueria Pacifica at AS220 will serve the freshest and most flavorful grub for much less than a fortune. It will be a place where you could meet friends before a show or stop in a for quick and healthy lunch, or even grab some take-out on your way home from work. A snooty Bistro? No way! We want everyone to feel welcome, whether you’re a tattooed bike messenger or an East-Side dentist. Anyone who craves great food made with love is welcome at Taqueria Pacifica.

You may know the Taqueria Pacifica as the beloved Taco Truk, the Providence staple of fresh-n-good on-the-go grub thats served straight from the guacamole-green truck. Since it’s inception in June of 2004, Pacifica has managed to attract clientele from across the boards with basically no paid advertising. "For some reason or another," says Tyler Long, burrito passionist and TP founder, "we like to think it’s the food - it is common for us to sell-out within the hours of 6 and 9:30 pm. When a good thing happens in Providence people know about it. Taqueria Pacifica has no where to go but big." As a testament to its popularity, in just one year the small business had been glorified by articles in The Providence Monthly, The Rhode Island Monthly, The Providence Phoenix, the East Side Monthly, and The Providence Journal.


Having a reputation for quality, the Taqueria Pacifica works with local farmers to offer the best organic and local produce available. The TP folks patronize the Southside Community Land Trust and Red Planet Organic, and also maintain their own organic city farm, Pacifica Organics, located at the end of Dexter Street right here in Providence, Rhode Island.


The menu will feature a range of carnivorous to vegetarian to vegan specialties, also offering fresh and local fish and shrimp to the mix. You got your fresh veggie-stuffed burritos, your fish tacos, your quesadillas and joesadillas, your cumin-lime sour cream, possibly the best homemade salsa tomato in North America, and other mmm mm mmm! west coast-style mexican favorites that will surely turn you into a Taqueria Addict. Its had that affect on us here at AS220 and we're just jumpin like jumpin beans in the hot Mexican sun in anticipation for the Taqueria Pacifica to finally park it at the ol' AS220!
