This is a fun, single session class – after completion, members will be permitted to use the hot foil stamping machine to complete their own personal projects.
Hot stamping is a straight forward process; 1) A die is mounted and heated, 2) Foil is positioned above the material to be imprinted, 3) A combination of heat, dwell time, pressure and stripping time control the quality of the stamp. Foil stamping is environmentally friendly due to it being a dry process. It does not use solvents or inks and does not create any harmful vapors.
Participants must attend this workshop in order to be certified to use this equipment. No materials needed for the first class. This is a demonstration based class. If you have a project, feel free to bring it we may use it during the demos.
Location and Parking
The AS220 Community Printshop is located at the Mercantile at 131 Washington Street Providence, Rhode Island on the 1st floor. The shop’s entrance is located at the back of the building on Lucie Way (Martha Street on GPS and computers); the shop’s double doors are at the Northwest corner of the building. There is 2 hour metered on street parking available, bring your quarters. We are also located near a parking garage with entry on Washington Street, look for the big blue parking sign.
Important Class Policies
Please be as respectful of the short time you and the other participants have to learn and be as on time as possible. If you arrive more than half an hour late we will not be able to teach you what you signed up for. Please plan ahead, it always takes time to find on street parking.
To cancel your reservation must email lara@as220.org at least two weeks in advance, or risk losing your payment.
CANCELLATION OF CLASSES
If minimum number is not met in class enrollment, the teacher may opt to cancel class. If this is the case, we will give a full refund of class payment and first choice to enroll in future classes. We will attempt to give as much notice as possible, thank you for your understanding.
