Traer Scott is a Rhode Island based photographer and author of the bestselling books Shelter Dogs (Merrell Publishers 2006), Street Dogs(October 2007) and Wild Horses; Endangered Beauty (October 2008). Specializing in narrative and editorial portraiture as well as animal photography, her work has been featured in National Geographic, Life, Vogue, People, O, the British Journal of Photography and dozens of other national and international publications. Recent solo exhibitions of her work have been held in New York, Providence and Tokyo. Scott was the recipient of the 2008 Helen Woodward Humane Award for animal welfare activism and the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts 2010 Photography Fellowship Grant. Scott resides in Providence, where she also teaches photography at Rhode Island School of Design.
