AS220 is a non-profit arts organization that provides Rhode Island artists with an unjuried and uncensored space to create and share artwork.
The Broad Street Studio is the youth component of AS220, which strives to meet the needs of young people in and outside of Rhode Island's juvenile prison.
The Studio's overarching goal is to help young people gain skills and develop habits that will lead to a healthy and happy life outside of the criminal justice system. We achieve this by providing a myriad of opportunities for young people to gain self-confidence and academic success, as well as social and economic empowerment. The Studio has been around since 2000 and is able to employ up to 25 youth of varying backgrounds.

Sometimes, we have amazing posters that need to go up and around town. In this case, we may need some kind folks to do that. In return, we will offer you a voucher thats good for one month of free admission to AS220. You will most likely need a car for this endeavour.. perhaps a nice little mix tape as well. Email the Communications Director or call her at 401-831-9327 x.115 to let us know you are interested, and we will get in touch with you when an opportunity arises.
It is AS220's Broad Street Studio's mission, in cooperation with Project
Hope and the Rhode Island Training School, to provide young people, both
at the RITS and upon their release from the RITS, with positive role
models to enhance their personal, educational, occupational and communal
development.
And right now we are in need of mentors. These individuals should be able to meet with their mentees for at least 2hours/day, 1day/week, for 6 months. If you are a good listener, a positive role model, can relate to youth, and would like to become a mentor please contact me. Not only will you be rewarded with warm fuzzies, but you will also receive $12.00/hr.
Please forward this email to anyone you feel will be an excellent Mentor.
*This is also a great opportunity for those who need to fulfill a community service requirement.
